During a pregnancy test you will meet one on one with one of our volunteers for your test. Pregnancy tests are offered on a walk-in basis or by appointment. You will fill out some basic forms before you get started. The actual test takes about 5 minutes, but plan for at least a half hour for paper work and the time in the counseling room. If your test is positive we can talk to you about the different options you have . . . parenting, abortion, or adoption. We can get you started with prenatal classes so you can learn about your pregnancy right from the beginning. We can also help get you started with paperwork needed for referrals to other community agencies.
You have a lot of options to consider with adoption. Closed or open? Go private or use an agency? You are in the driver’s seat when making an adoption plan. Many people are surprised to learn that adoption is a lot different today than it used to be. As a birth parent, you can choose a family and decide how involved you want to be in your child’s life. It will probably be a very tough decision, but for some people it can be the best decision. At the Pregnancy Care Center we can provide you with more information and resources to help you consider the adoption option.
All of us need help being the best parent we can possibly be. We are here to help. Our parenting classes are an hour long and you meet one on one with one of our volunteers. Most of them have a ton of parenting experience under their belt and with that wisdom and our curriculum you will have a great resource to help you with parenting. We offer classes for prenatal and birth to five years old. Our classes are also approved by the court for anyone who is in need of court-ordered parenting classes.
This is one of the favorite places in the Center! When you take our parenting classes you will earn money to shop in our on-site baby store. It is full of clothes, diapers, wipes, blankets, and more.
Referrals to Community Agencies
We have lots of contacts in the community . . . from WIC, Healthy Families, Nurse Family Partnership, and more. We want you to receive all the information you need about all that is out there for you and your child.
